Varsity
The varsity squad consisting of our top 8 men and 8 women cheers for all home and away football games and men's basketball. The varsity squad competes annually in the UCA College National Championships in Division I-A which is the highest level. Each varsity member receives a minimum of $1,000 per semester in scholarship money. In addition, out of state tuition waivers are available to a limited number of out of state team members.
UCF's varsity team won the 2003 UCA National Championship, ending the string of eight consecutive titles for Kentucky. It also marked the ninth time in the past 10 years UCF has finished in the top 10 in the nation and appeared on ESPN. UCF finished runner-up to Kentucky in 2002 and finished third behind Kentucky and Tennessee in 1999. In 2004 the Golden Knights finished third behind Kentucky and Alabama. In 2005-06, UCF placed fourth behind Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.
Junior Varsity
Our JV team is made up of young men and women who cheer for all home football and women's basketball games. No scholarships are available for JV team members.
How to Prepare
First and foremost get your application in to the university as soon as possible to insure that you are accepted to attend school here. You will then want to be sure that you are in top physical condition. Our cheerleading team members are nationally competitive athletes who lift weights in addition to regular practices.
Each Spring we hold a one day college prep stunt clinic (see camps/clinics) for men and women who are trying out for college squads and want to work on college stunting. This is an excellent opportunity to improve your skills.
A large portion of tryouts will be spent working on coed stunting. In addition, open coed stunt classes are held at the University Cheer Force Cheerleading Gym each week. You can receive information about these classes by calling 407 679-6620.
