Ashley Grier is a talented senior who is expected to provide leadership this year for the Golden Knights. She is in her second year in the program after transferring from Jacksonville.
As a Junior: Grier played in all 11 events for the Golden Knights and led the team with a 76.3 stroke average. Her best finish of the year came at the Atlantic Sun Championship in DeLand, Fla., where she finished third. She was UCF's top finisher in eight of the 11 events and registered five top-five finishes. She garnered second-team All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors and earned A-Sun all-tournament honors. Her low round of the year was a 3-under-par 69 in the opening round of the Beacon Woods Invitational in New Port Richey, Fla. She had 11 rounds of 75 or better, including four rounds at even-par or better.
Prior to UCF: Grier was a two-year standout for the Jacksonville Dolphins. As a sophomore she averaged a team-low 79 strokes per round. She was voted to All-Atlantic Sun second team, and finished seventh in the A-Sun Championship 2004. As a freshman she won two tournaments (Coca-Cola Intercollegiate and Blade Sportswear Intercollegiate) en route to posting a team-low 77.1 round average and being named the Atlantic Sun Freshman-of-the-Year in 2002-03.
Personal: Ashley Elizabeth Grier was born on May 16, 1984 in Waynesboro, Pa. and is the daughter of David and Judy Grier. Her father is a Class A PGA Professional, while mother owns a golf center. She is a business major.
