2008 Women's Soccer Season Highlights

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In 2008, UCF continued to prove it belongs on the national stage in Division I college soccer. The Knights made their 13th trip to the NCAA Tournament, which ranks as the 16th most appearances in the entire country and the most of any school in the state of Florida. Here's a look back at some of the highlights. Team Notes UCF took on a very difficult non-conference schedule and survived with an impressive 5-2-1 record. It went 2-2-0 against ranked teams, including wins over No. 19 Florida and No. 17 Illinois. Based on the Nov. 2 RPI ranking, UCF posted wins over #7 Florida, #26 Miami (Fla.), #27 Illinois, #65 Colorado College, #67 Memphis, #72 Rice and #100 Pacific. Shut out eight teams during the season: Florida, Hartford, Pacific, Illinois, Marshall, Houston, SMU and Tulsa. Conversely, UCF was only shut out three times, and they were all to teams that made the NCAA Tournament. Averaged 360 fans per home game, the most since Amanda Cromwell took over the program in 1999. That included three crowds of over 450 fans. Nationally ranked during seven different weeks of the 2008 season. Individual Notes Thirteen different Knights scored a goal while 18 players registered at least one point. Aline Reis' 107 saves tied for the fifth most in a single-season in UCF history.
