UCF Softball to Challenge No. 1 Florida in NCAA Regional Action

Gainesville, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF softball team learned Friday evening that it will face No. 1 Florida Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the semi-final round of the NCAA Gainesville Regional at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium. The Knights advanced in the winner's bracket after defeating in-state rival USF, 3-2, in the opening round of the event Friday afternoon. Florida earned the right to challenge the Knights by sending Georgia Tech into the loser's bracket with a 7-2 victory later in the evening after rains forced the game to start almost two hours behind schedule. UCF is 1-5 all-time when facing the Gators and 2-3 when playing at Pressly Softball Stadium. The Black and Gold continues its run toward the Women's College World Series Saturday at 1 p.m. at the NCAA Gainesville Regional.
